Fire Zone 80

Made for the ‘Violent Object’ exhibition.
Air force targets – large, rusty metal objects, which control and command a view of empty desert areas, stand isolated in the space appropriated from civilians in favour of the army.
The familiar/ strange shapes describe the volume of future targets in imaginary wars and operations - military bases, communications towers, vehicles and houses. The multifaceted polygon objects, are designed for radar detection. Machine aesthetics.
In the transition from the rusty and battered original to the small scale self-assembly model, the objects transition from a military context to a personal, collector-oriented context - a world of small scale models of battleships and bombers, children’s games and adult games; physical games and virtual games, war games.

Brass plates, Acid etching.
